Tiago Gonçalves Moutinho Ribeiro, Portuguese, was born on the 15th of June 1980 in Porto. He has a permanent residence in Matosinhos, a city in the north of Portugal. Married with two children, he grew up and studied in Porto. He always dreamed of being a football coach.
He completed the Degree in Physical Education and Sport in 2003, at the Instituto Superior da Maia (ISMAI), and the Master in High Performance with Specialization in Football, in 2006, at the Institut Nacional d´Educació Física de Catalunya (INEFC), in Barcelona. He was a student of Professor Paco Seirul.lo who had an important influence on his career and in the acquisition of new knowledge in training methodology. In 2008, and after two years of studies in various areas related to Sport, he completed the Diploma of Advanced Studies, of the PhD Program at INEFC, in Sport Psychology in High Performance Teams.
For several years he was a Physical Education teacher in primary and secondary schools. Between 2009 and 2011, he collaborated as a professor at University ISMAI.
His career as a coach started with his training at the Vitória Sport Clube in “Os Afonsinhos” and as the head coach of the U19 at União Desportiva Valonguense in the 2005/2006 season. In 2010/2011, he gained further experience at União de Leiria, observing and analyzing players and other teams.
EIn 2011/2012 he worked at Sporting Clube de Portugal U19 as assistant coach and fitness coach in the technical team led by coach Ricardo Sá Pinto. In addition to finishing the first phase of the championship in first place, they reached the quarter-finals of the Youth League (Next Gen). That same year, in February 2012, he took on the role of assistant coach of the first team at Sporting Clube de Portugal where he reached the Europe League semi-finals, (after eliminating Manchester City and Metalist) and the final of the Portuguese Cup.
In the 2012/2013 season he relocated to Serbia to become the assistant coach of the main club and former European champion, Red Star, where he finished second in the championship. In the 2013/2014 season, as an assistant coach of OFI Crete (Greece), he finished in an excellent sixth place and reached the Greek Cup semi-finals. In the following year, 2014/2015 season, he remained in the Greek First League, now at the service of Atromitos in which he played the role of assistant coach.
In the 2015/2016 season, he returned to Portugal to represent a historic club, CF “Os Belenenses” as an assistant coach. The team achieved the memorable feat of qualifying for the group stage of the Europe League, after eliminating IFK Gotemborg (Sweden) and SCR Altach (Austria). In the Group stage of the Europe League they played against Fiorentina (Italy), Lech Poznan (Poland) and Basel (Switzerland).
In 2016 he accepted the invitation to be the head coach of the U15 of Shandong Luneng, China, in one of the largest football academies in Asia and the World. In addition to being the main coach, he was Coordinator of the Coaches of the U14 and U13 teams. There, he won the China U15 National Championship.
In the following season, 2017/2018, his U16 team went to Brazil and the president invited him to be the head coach of team B who took the place of the first team in the first division. He continued as Coordinator of the Coaches of the lower teams. After a brilliant season, he won the China U16 National Championship, the first time in history with a B team. At the end of the season, he also won the China U16 Champions League. The event featured the top four in the Chinese championship that year, Hamburg from Germany and Pakhtakor from Uzbekistan. After a brilliant competition, with 5 wins and 1 draw, he won the competition, the first time in history with a B team. In that year, he received the award of the Chinese Football Federation for best coach of the U16 year.
In 2018 UEFA PRO ended.
In 2019/2020 he was part of the technical team led by coach Jon Pérez Bolo, as assistant coach of S. D. Ponferradina, in the second Spanish League, managing to achieve the initial goals proposed by the club.
Throughout his career he was in different clubs and leagues, where he performed the functions of analyst, observer, fitness coach, assistant coach and head coach which allowed him to exercise various positions in a technical team and, with that, increase his knowledge and experience in the field. In addition, the fact that he has worked in different championships and countries such as Portugal, Serbia, Greece, China and Spain allowed him to accumulate a set of experiences and skills essential to a football coach.
In addition to his native language, Portuguese, he is fluent in English and Spanish.
